Regional training course on culture-based fisheries

From Oct 29 to Nov 9, 2017, Nha Trang University, Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA) and United Nations University - Fisheries Training Program (UNU-FTP) will co-organize the regional training course on culture-based fisheries. The target participants of the training course are experts and officers who are working in fisheries sectors and agricultural communities.
Culture-based fisheries are an example of a relatively simple and low-cost technology which helps produce more food from the natural productivity of local ecosystems, bring economic benefits to rural communities, where have few livelihood options. The course will be taught by professors from Australia, Srilanka, Iceland, Chinese, Vietnam, etc.
The contents of the workshop will focus on:
- Current practices and relevance of culture-based fisheries.
- Evaluation of water bodies for culture-based fisheries.
- Establishing a management system.
- Risk and risk management.
- Stock practices and stocking assessment.
- Harvesting and marketing strategies.
